What made Barbara Osterman our favorite model? Cover girl on twelve national magazine covers and our best-selling Photography Book, “Figure Photography” 600,000 copies. Unlike famous models and film stars,
who would give us only one half hour, Barbara gave us two years!! Actors usually needed a hair-dresser, makeup and wardrobe persons. Barbara could fill all of these jobs.
We would spend whole days photographing at Malibu, breaking for a picnic lunch. Barbara was soon hired by 20th Century Fox and RKO Studio as a costume designer. It has been over fifty years since Peter has seen her but Alice visited Barbara and her husband, Jim Neill in Ashland, Oregon not too long ago. Barbara was born in 1930 and passed away in 2006. We really miss our friend who was beautiful in both spirit and looks. | |

| Sad to say, day of the "Pin-Up" is over! Most
magazines are selling cameras on their covers.
Exceptions are Rangefinder, Studio Photography & Design...Usually a single dramatic picture!
I was asked by a magazine writer, "What would I do, if I were starting today?." I really don't know. I would not manufacture large cameras. |
